Introduction: IKEA for your home

Moving out of my parents house, I was lucky enough to be given second hand furniture seeing as I had enough bills and rent to worry about paying. But nothing seemed to go together and there were just certain parts of the room that seemed out of touch with the rest of the space. I couldn't afford to go to a nice independent furniture store when I would rather use the rest of my left over money for saving and going out on the weekends, but I also didn't want to feel uncomfortable in my own home.

I remembered going to IKEA, when I first got my car, for days out with friends and buying Swedish meatballs. I even picked out a few things to go into my room when I was still living at home with my parents to give my room a bit more of my personality to it. Looking online, I found that their furniture prices were still incredibly reasonable. It certainly wasn't the nice railway sleeper table my mum bought for our old dinning room or the 5 part corner sofa my dad bought for the living room. But, it had very modern designs for a very affordable price.

I secured a new coffee table to play board games with friends and a arm chair I could play my video games in and/or watch a new series. These items alone made only a dent into my monthly allowance and I was free to go out for drinks and come home to a modern and good looking flat.

Balancing cost and comfort

It's always so important to watch your spending because hard work and patience will always get you the things you want without breaking the bank. Having said this, happiness is equally if not more important and you want a nice home to come back to where you can wind down and forget about the struggles of the day.

IKEA provide a great range of designs and personalised furniture and fittings (upon request). Although not all of their products are made of oak or renowned materials, they still create sturdy and comfortable products. No desk chair is under filled or unsupportive, no cupboard is too weak to hang all your clothes collections from. Each item provides great style and comfort to all your needs at home while keeping your wallet healthy.

Building a comfortable living space

What sets IKEA apart from all their competitors is how easy it is to move in your new furniture and the simplicity of laying it out the way you want it so effortlessly. Most furniture you buy comes premade and built as one unit, IKEA take a slightly different approach with some of its products. Products turn up at your door as compact and easy to carry through as possible. They do this to save you the trouble of getting delivery men or your buddy to come over and help you get in up the stairs without damaging your new painted walls. Receiving both my chair and table compact made it so easy to get it through my small doorway and corridors of my apartment building and into my living space.

It may seem daunting to the be left building your furniture but each set comes with clear and simple instructions on how to do so. The parts come clearly labelled so no mistakes are made and you can understand each step on the process. I currently own a couple of IKEA display shelves to make room for my new figurines and books and they took me no longer than 10 minutes to assemble.
